We had a fabulous time at your home in Manzanillo. It was heaven! The staff is truly amazing. Pilar is the best cook; we enjoyed her meals immensely. Her true love for cooking was on display all day, everyday. I loved seeing Pati and Cecila again after 12 years. Cecilia worked the entire week, everyday, all day for us. We couldn’t get enough of her massages. Jose and Pati were darling and constantly did everything possible to make our stay great. Jose and Albi arranged the guys’ game at Tamarindo Golf Course, set us up on horseback and ATV. JP checked in everyday and made sure we were enjoying our wonderful stay. We will be back next year. We had an amazing vacation full of wonderful memories. Thank you again!Kristine T.
AMAZING!! Imagine your own private hotel in paradise. From the moment I reached out to the Alpers regarding renting the Palace for my husband's 50th birthday until we said a tearful goodbye to the staff, our experience was fantastic! The Palace is gorgeous (even more so than the photos). What made the stay perfect is the phenomenal staff! Every day we were met by smiling faces! Jose was there for every small and large request. Pilar is a wonderful Chef who fulfilled our every request and surprised us with new dishes daily! One of our guests is a Celebrity Chef from New York and he could not get enough of her food -- especially her mole and salsas. I am a travel agent and will be recommending Palace By The Sea to my clients. We will be back SOON!!Stacy VW
Words cannot describe how “wow-ed” Cindy and I as well as my two best friends (that I have known for 35 years) were when we first entered your Palace doorway. We had heard a number of stories about Palace by the Sea over the years but to be able to experience it first hand will be a wonderful memory forever etched in our minds.
The house design and layout is spectacular in and of itself. However, when you couple that with the seclusion and, of course, your amazing staff, you realize just how special the house is. We truly adored Pilar and Jose who made us feel at home and well taken care of. Jean Pierre and Paty were also quite helpful and attentive to any needs we might have had.
Pilar is an amazing chef and was ever so accommodating. Jose was very funny and attended to any needs we had. And the beauty of La Punta is unparalleled when compared to any place we have visited.
I think I played more tennis this past week than I did in the previous five years in total. Also, Cindy and I are avid snorkelers and we had brought our equipment and ventured out one day towards the rocks just to the right of the private beach area in La Punta. And low and behold we discovered one of the best snorkeling spots in the world right from your very own beach. We saw dozens of stingrays, barracuda and other amazing tropical fish. I wanted to let you know as for many people this would be exciting for them.
Once again thanks to you and Frankie for making the Palace so special. It will be a week we will never forget.Kind regards,
I’m happy to say that we all had a wonderful time, and the Palace By The Sea is truly a “Palace”. Not only is the home absolutely beautiful in every way, the staff was a joy to work with and be around. Fabulous food and cooking, and Jose made all of our plans so easy to execute. He was a great guide and chauffeur…
The beach is a very short distance away, very beautiful and very few people there. The weather was perfect; it’s an easy drive from the airport, and we all felt very safe at La Punta (the secure area of homes where the Palace is located). The bathrooms are very large and the bedrooms very roomy – especially the 2 Master bedrooms. VERY clean and well kept – the staff every day would be there to take care of any needs you might have – you simply had no worries! Every day you pick from a generous menu list, and the cook does a marvelous job of preparing your meals. The “worst” meal that we had all week (and it was still very good) was when we went out to a restaurant for dinner one night – we were spoiled by the great food at the Palace. There are many local golfing choices and other activities to enjoy. We went deep sea fishing, shopping and took the kids for a “zip” ride in the mountains. I would definitely recommend the Palace to anyone who is looking for a great place to relax with family and friends.
My husband George and I have been blessed enough to stay at “The Palace” three times. Our third and most recent stay was – again – perfect! The Palace and its surroundings are the most beautiful and tranquil place we have travelled to. Each of the staff rise to the occasion to make your stay truly magical! Every wish is your command. The accommodations, the view, the food, and most of all the staff make it a vacation you will remember a lifetime.D.H.
Geoff and I just wanted to send you a note and express our thanks. We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Palace by the Sea. Your family has an amazing space and we really enjoyed our stay. We utilized all that was availed to our group and no one left unhappy, except that we had to leave. We swam and swam, we massaged, we exercised in the gym, we played tennis and ping pong. We enjoyed the rocks and a walk down to the palapa. Our group utilized the suburban and the golf cart. We even utilized the Haro Tours to move us about Manzanillo easily. Arturo was an absolute joy. The sunshine, weather and food, food, food was delicious. Your staff is to be commended; John Pierre, Pillar, Jose, Patty, Blanca and gardener. We went to the beach several times, zip lined, went horseback riding, snorkeled from a power boat and a ponga, we rode wave runners, we released turtles from the sanctuary. We accomplished a lot and enjoyed the tranquility of just hanging out.
One week is just not enough to unwind. We relished our stay.Thank you!
One word - amazing
Where to start? Our party consisted of 4 couples and children from 10 to 18 years. Palace by the Sea exceeds expectations with its grand staircase leading down to the open aired living room with panoramic views of the Pacific. The accommodations were impeccable, comfortable bedding, beautiful bathrooms and unexpected extras like on-site massages and spa treatments.
The Staff was exceptional, always ready to accommodate and yet unobtrusive. The 18 year old in our group is a vegetarian and Pilar, the chef, created interesting and delicious meals for her. We are definitely foodies and Pilar delighted us with local dishes as well as personal requests. She even provided us with a complete Thanksgiving Dinner - American style! When the men came back with their catch of Mahi mahi, Pilar prepared it two ways! I have to applaud the entire staff on their professionalism and friendliness.
Although our group was quite diverse - ranging in age from 10 to 73, there was always something for everyone to do from sunbathing with a book, playing beach volleyball, taking surfing lessons, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, shopping the local markets, to sipping margaritas and eating ceviche at the open aired restaurants overlooking the ocean. I would recommend this villa to almost anyone with the caveat that there are multiple stairs that might present a challenge to some. On the other hand, it sure helped to work off some of those calories! For those looking for a lot of nightlife, Manzanillo doesn't offer much; however, with Jose's help (the on-site manager) we hired a private trio to play poolside and created our own fiesta of food, margaritas, music and dancing! This was the most relaxing, trouble-free vacation I have ever experienced. So much fun living like the Rich and Famous, even if you're not!Diana
"Manzanillo Girls Trip"
The Palace was the perfect place for a relaxing girls vacation. All seven of us had such an amazing time! The staff was wonderful and the food outstanding. We went out to dinner one time and truly felt like the food at the Palace was way better than the restaurant! Jose makes a mean margarita and was at our service if we ever needed anything. The little markets are a must! We picked up some great pewter, mexican linens and other fun things. We look forward to making this an annual vacation and are already looking forward to next year. Below are some of the other girl's comments. "One of the most beautiful and relaxing places I have ever been in my life." - Emily "It is a little slice of heaven-the house and views are stunning; the food was gourmet; and the service was impeccable! It was truly the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation I have taken in a long time!" - Julianne "Palace by the Sea was fantastic! I relaxed more than I have in years! From the 180 views of the Pacific, to the massage room on-sit to the amazing meals, it is a one of a kind experience! Highly recommend this home!!"
We had the opportunity to stay at Palace by the Sea for two weeks with different sets of guests each week. I can definitely report that every one who visited had all of their expectations considerably exceeded in all respects. Palace is itself situated high on a rocky hill above the ocean, affording excellent and unobstructed ocean views, as well as views of the sunrise and sunset, plus night views across the water of the port and some of the town. Because of its location, it is quite peaceful. The villa itself is gorgeous, and publicity pictures simply do not do it justice. The furnishings are equally beautiful and both the villa design and furnishings demonstrate the exceptional taste of the owners. And with all of this, everything is quite functional as well. As for safety, we left things lying about the villa and doors unlocked without any concern whatsoever. The villa itself is in a highly secure area. And no one in our groups ever felt uncomfortable in the area around the villa, in Manzanillo or any of the other towns which we visited. Safety never really crossed our minds.
There are many extra amenities which make the villa special. Our group greatly appreciated the exercise and massage rooms, the Internet service and US-based phone, the media room with its supply of DVDs, the daily laundry service, and the available vehicles for transportation to the private beach and around town. By the way, the private beach area is groomed daily, has its own pool and cabana areas and is quite lovely in its own right.
However, the crown jewels of the villa are its staff, who work tirelessly to keep everything immaculate and see to the needs of the guests. They are highly attentive but never intrusive. If one has special dietary requirements or other special needs, they cheerfully take care of them. Palace advertises an in-house cook, but she should really be designated chef, as every meal is excellent and beautifully served. Having this in-house meal service which is that of a fine restaurant provides a major amenity, not to mention that it is very cost effective as the guests pay only the grocery bills. Everything is purchased daily and is very fresh. You couldn't ask for better.
All in all, Palace by the Sea provided everyone with a restful and elegant vacation where one could do as much or as little as desired, and never want for a superb meal. It's a great place.Gary S.
Wow! That was one fabulous week at the Palace by the Sea. No amount of verbiage, or photos, could adequately describe the experience. Now I'm clear on the meaning of the phrase "lap of luxury". The staff was not only efficient and attentive - they pampered us. Pilar's cooking - "fue muy sabrosa" - I've never had an entire week of four star meals. Jose and Jean Pierre deftly handled all the logistics for zip-lining, kayaking, golf, deep sea fishing, launch rentals and massages. Jean Pierre even came up with a guitar, so that I could sit on the veranda, in the evenings, and play Latin music to the stars. It wasn't hard to fall into the rhythm drinking margaritas, while watching whales breach, dolphins fly, and then falling asleep to the sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks. I've had to load sounds of the sea in my ipod just to handle the withdrawals.
Max and I want to thank you and Frankie for this wonderful opportunity. We also want to thank Sonia for supplying data, answering questions and making the whole experience painless. This was a romantic and most memorable vacation. You folks rock!Sincerely,
(Reader recommendation to the LA Times)
My friends and I had the PLEASURE of staying at 'Palace By The Sea' March 29-April 5, 2008:
For everyone who'd like to be treated like ROYALTY, I recommend this private villa in Manzanillo, Mexico. 'Palace By The Sea' is absolutely stunning! We all enjoyed the high ceilings and surround view of the ocean from the open air dining and living rooms. The sound of the waves and the relaxed atmosphere at the pool - surreal! The attention to details: a different place setting (including china and silverware) for every meal, the plush comfy robes in the extremely well appointed bathrooms, media room, massage room, workout room....what more could anyone ask for! The staff at this villa are fabulous!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need more information.Sincerely,
Our family had a most wonderful time at your beautiful villa. I can't imagine a lovelier family vacation. Your home is so pristine and well kept.
When the staff greeted us at the door with margaritas and big welcoming smiles, we nearly swooned! That set the tone for the whole stay. Your decor was exceptional and unexpected [as in not the usual Mexican casa style], luxurious and tasteful.
It was all a dream come true! Thank you so much for creating a vacation spot that was perfection.Best regards,
Well, we are back from our wonderful trip to Manzanillo and we can't thank you and Sonja (and your entire staff at the Palace) enough. We had a lovely time! I think we all gained 5 pounds with Pilar's cooking though...such a chef! Definitely the best meals we had while there were from your kitchen.
The boys truly enjoyed their golfing. Susan and I went to Isla Navidad one of the days with them and had a blast. Lovely course and we had it practically to ourselves. The real treat though was Tamarindo. The boys are still talking about it!! Too bad it's so far away or I'm sure they would have been there everyday.
We ventured in to Toscana one evening for dinner and visited Primavera for trinkets before we left. We also went to Las Hadas beach for jet skis one afternoon which was fun, but we all decided NO comparison for La Punta's beach.
The most fun we had was having the mariachi band!! What a splendid suggestion. Jose asked if we wanted the 3 piece or the 5 piece band so we told him 5 piece for sure. Somehow we ended up with 12 musicians! What a hoot--they outnumbered us, but they were fantastic!!!! So good we had them come back at the end of the week for an encore show!
And we truly enjoyed the heck out of your volleyball net and the pool. Many nights the men would have their matches stretch from after dinner until after midnight (Yes, there may have been some tequilla and wine invovled )
All in all we had a lovely time and look forward to seeing you soon and sharing more with you. We can understand how celebreties must feel now because you can truly get away from everything and never even leave the house if you wanted to. And I surely didn't miss doing laundry for 7 days! All the best!
